Police investigating theater robbery

The State College Police Department is investigating a strong-armed robbery at the Premiere Theatre, 125 Premiere Drive, that occurred just before 10 p.m. Monday, police said.

After a theater employee stopped three patrons from entering a showing of The Dark Knight, they began to cause a disturbance, police said.

When the employee denied them entrance to the movie and offered to refund their money, one of the men became belligerent while the other reached over the counter and removed money from the cash drawer, police said. The suspects then fled the scene.

Police are reviewing surveillance tape obtained from the theater and are working on "significant leads," Cpt. Dana Leonard said.

The amount of money taken is estimated to be less than $100, he added.
