LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Saving exams on Web site is the same as in the '60s

I attended college 40 years ago. Although I was not in a fraternity, I competed for grades against people who were fraternity members. They had a distinct advantage in that they had access to the "fraternity files." In these files were copies of past tests given by the various professors on campus.

The PostYourTest site is simply the Web version of those files.

However, I also want to note that I have also taught college courses as an adjunct faculty member. The current text books and related materials typically provide the instructor with a sizable test bank of examination questions. In my experience, creating a new exam for each class was fairly simple and could be automated. In subject areas that have these materials there's no excuse for the professors recycling old examination questions.
