With oil shortages, rising gas prices and concerns about carbon dioxide emissions, we must all to do what we can to save fuel. Riding a motorcycle instead of driving a car can help.
Penn State should encourage fuel conservation by offering better motorcycle parking options on campus. A patch of pavement not big enough for one car can hold several motorcycles, and there are plenty of such underutilized spaces around campus. Unfortunately, Penn State has recently chosen to step up persecution of motorcycles by ticketing them in spots that have been used for years to park motorcycles. Penn State should instead be opening more motorcycle parking spaces on campus.
