Nostalgic Nittany Lion fan defends alumni ticket sale

Although the alumni ticket selling system is admittedly very different and financially based, it has several benefits. First, by charging alumni insane amounts of money, the Nittany Lion Club is able to fund other sports at Penn State, not just the football team. They are also able to put money into maintaining Beaver Stadium.

Second, my father has held the same season ticket location for more than 30 years. Since I was just a little girl, I've gone to games with my dad and had the pleasure of seeing the friendships and bonds that can only emerge from sitting in such close proximity to strangers with a common bond: watching the Lions.

I have no chance of making it back for a single weekend this fall. Enjoy the fact that you have the resources and time to make it to any games and consider it a privilege to be earned, not just for the ability to go to a game as an alumnus, but the chances you had to go as a student at our fine institution. There are thousands of fans that would gladly change places with you.
