Last year, as a senior, I didn't get football tickets because of the failure of the Ticketmaster Web site to support the demand. Having addressed that issue this year, I thought things would go much more smoothly since I'd be ordering alumni tickets at some point over the summer. Then, much to my surprise and disgust, I called the ticket office to find out that only single game tickets are available to alumni, not including Oregon State University and the University of Michigan. The only way to get those tickets or season tickets would be through the Nittany Lion Club, with it's required donations (nice of them to recognize alumni have loans to pay off from the highest tuition in the Big Ten)! Even if I had the money, I was never notified of this as a graduating senior. Lastly the single game tickets force you to assigned seats, eliminating any possibility of meeting up with friends at the game.
As a PSU alumnus, I am completely disgusted with this situation. And the administrators wonder why they have such a scalping problem, which I understand they plan to eliminate by tying student tickets to students' IDs. When that happens, the Penn State Athletic Department will no longer get any money or support from this fed-up alumnus, and I'm sure many others as well.
