Men's volleyball coach earns top honors

After compiling a host of achievements throughout the 2008 season, Penn State men's volleyball coach Mark Pavlik received yet another award for his team's national championship effort.

Pavlik was named the AVCA Division I-II National Coach of the Year by the officials from the American Volleyball Coaches Association after leading the Nittany Lions to their second volleyball national title in school history.

It was Pavlik's first AVCA Coach of the Year honor and the second in the history of the program, joining Tom Peterson. Peterson earned the honor in 1994 when the Lions captured their first national title.

Pavlik and junior outside hitter Matt Anderson, who was named AVCA Co-Player of the Year, give the Lions the two most prestigious individual NCAA men's volleyball awards in their 2008 national championship season.
