Defensive end Maurice Evans has been named to the watch list for the 2008 Bronko Nagurski Trophy, which is presented to the country's best defensive player.

Evans, who will be a junior in the fall, was sixth in the country last season with 21.5 tackles for loss, and his 12.5 sacks ranked eighth nationally. The single-season sack total was the fourth most in Penn State history.

Previous Penn State players to be named Nagurski Trophy finalists include Tamba Hali (2005) and LaVar Arrington and Courtney Brown (1999). The award will be presented Dec. 7.
