Former Nittany Lion defensive back Knowledge Timmons was accepted into a first-time offenders' program Thursday, likely ending his legal troubles stemming from an Oct. 7 fight in the HUB-Robeson Center.
Timmons was accepted into the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition (ARD) program, a first-time offenders' program that will expunge his criminal record upon completion, said his attorney, Karen Muir.
In addition to completing the 12-month program, Timmons will need to complete the standard one day of community service, Muir said, adding acceptance into the program did not constitute a guilty plea.
"It's a huge benefit for Knowledge," she said. "And certainly warranted by the facts of his case."
Timmons had been charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct and defiant trespass after police said he turned over tables looking for his iPhone after an altercation that involved several football players, according to court documents. Defensive linemen Phil Taylor and Chris Baker and linebacker Navorro Bowman also face charges for their alleged roles in the incident.
Timmons was "excused" from the football team in January for undisclosed reasons, according to Collegian archives.
Sports Information Director Jeff Nelson could not immediately be reached to address Timmons' status with the football team.
