Four arrested for drug charges

The Pennsylvania State Police executed arrest warrants on four people, including two Penn State students, who are accused of selling small amounts of cocaine or marijuana to confidential informants in the past year.

On Monday, police charged Penn State student Justin J. Owens (senior-management), of 501 Vairo Blvd., with four counts of possession of marijuana, three counts of possession with intent to deliver, two counts of criminal use of a communication facility, two counts of delivery of marijuana and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police allege Owens sold a confidential informant 28 grams of marijuana on Jan. 21 and, a week later, sold another informant 26.2 grams of the drug.

Police executed a search warrant on Owens’ residence and found 11 baggies of marijuana, four smoking pipes, a water bong and other paraphernalia, according to court documents.

Owens’ preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 7.

Police also charged Kathryn Elizabeth Hill (freshman-division of undergraduate studies), of 10 Vairo Blvd., with two counts each of delivery of marijuana, criminal use of a communication facility, possession with intent to deliver and possession of marijuana.

Police allege she sold an eighth of an ounce of marijuana on two separate occasions to a confidential informant.

The two individuals arrested on cocaine-related charges were not Penn State students. Bridgette Bortle, of Sayer, was charged with one count each of delivery of cocaine, possession with intent to deliver, criminal use of a communication facility and possession of cocaine. Police said she sold a confidential informant an eighth of a gram of cocaine for $70 on Nov. 30, 2006.

Vasil Paraskevas, of 563 Marjorie Mae St., was charged with one count each of possession with intent to deliver, possession of crack cocaine, delivery of crack cocaine and criminal use of a communication facility. Police said he sold about three rocks of crack cocaine to a confidential informant for $150 on Dec. 12.
