Baseball game benefits cancer society
Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity and the Penn State Baseball program will host "Medlar Mania" tonight to raise money for the American Cancer Society's Colleges Against Cancer.
One dollar from every ticket sold for tonight's game against University of Akron will go to the program, said Michael Barasch, vice president of communications for Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity and assistant coordinator of Medlar Mania.
Following the game, the Greek Week pairing that sells the most tickets to the game will play a coed softball game on Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.
Barasch said student organizations from both Penn State and State College Area High School that have at least five members in attendance at the game will be recognized.
Students can purchase tickets for $2 at the State College Spikes ticket office at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. The game is set to begin at 6:35 p.m.
Victim reports being punched, injured
An individual reported that he was punched in the face by an unknown person Sunday afternoon on the 600 block of West Beaver Avenue. There are no suspects, and the vi ctim was treated for facial injuries of unknown severity at Mount Nittany Medical Center, the State College Police Department said.
