Former Nittany Lion defensive tackle Chris Baker's trial, scheduled for yesterday morning, has been postponed until the April term of court.
Baker's attorney, Karen Muir, said a new jury will be selected for Baker on April 7.
"It was continued in the interests of justice ... " Muir wrote in an e-mail message yesterday.
Centre County District Attorney Michael Madeira said the commonwealth remains prepared to go to trial.
"We were ready to go today, and we'll be ready to go then," Madeira said. "We're as ready as we'll ever be."
Madeira and Muir did not elaborate on other reasons for the trial's postponement.
Baker, 20, faces charges stemming from an altercation in an apartment at the Meridian II apartment building, 646 E. College Ave., early last April.
Baker faces felony criminal trespass and burglary charges, a misdemeanor simple assault, and summary charges of harassment, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct, according to court documents.
Centre County President Judge David Grine denied a motion Muir filed last month to suppress Baker's identification and dismiss the two felony charges he faces in connection with the Meridian incident.
Muir said she believed the lineup victims and witnesses were suggestive because the witnesses were shown a football program that included only photographs of the Penn State football team.
