Band energizes crowd

The Cherry Darling show this weekend is not a place where audience members will be afforded the opportunity to be wallflowers.

"We try to get everyone moving, no matter what it takes, even if it pisses people off," Incommunicado's guitarist Ryan Warmbrodt said. "Some people just want to stand around in the corner, but we just want everyone to have as much fun as possible."

Indie punk-rock band, Incommunicado, will headline a 9:30 p.m. show Saturday at The Brewery, 233 E. Beaver Ave.

Warmbrodt said he commends what Meredith Rebar, Cherry Darling creator, is doing with the local music scene in State College.

"I think what she is doing is awesome," Warmbrodt said. "It's great that she's bringing in bands from out of town to play shows in State College."

Warmbrodt said the band as a whole is influenced by an array of musicians, with each band member having his own personal influence.

"I'd say Hot Water Music, Fugazi and Against Me! are three bands that are really big influences; those, at least, are some of the bands people tend to compare us to," he said.

Incommunicado recently played a Cherry Darling show in February with bands Jena Berlin and The Warmingtons.

"We really like playing in State College, and college towns in general," Warmbrodt said. "If we could, we would play college towns more often, but we just don't have the connections."

Playing with Incommunicado will be Lose The Name, a punk-rock quartet from Tyrone, Pa.

"This is our first time playing with Incommunicado, and we are super happy about it," bass player Brad Davis said.

This weekend's performance coincides with the release of Lose The Name's five-track EP, Fells Point, released through Take Over Digital.

Lose The Name worked with producer Paul Leavitt who has worked with other acts like Senses Fail. The finished product is described as "fusing blazing punk with melody and harmonic hooks," according to the band's MySpace.com page.

"We've been working on the CD for really long time, so we are really excited for people to be able to buy it now," Davis said. "We plan on doing a full summer tour, too, to promote it."

Davis gave the same sentiment as Warmbrodt when describing what to expect from tomorrow night's show.

"Expect good times and lots of energy," he said. "We put everything on stage when we play; we are going to leave nothing behind."
