Serenade to play Bach, Brahms

The School of Music will present a concert in the Sunday Serenade series at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Eisenhower Chapel of the Pasquerilla Spiritual Center. Jennifer Lewis (graduate-music performance) will play a solo viola prelude by J.S. Bach and a solo suite by Max Reger. In addition to three other pieces featuring Lewis, a string quartet will also perform a movement from a piece by Johannes Brahms. This concert is one of nine remaining Sunday Serenades scheduled throughout the semester. Admission is free.

State Theatre to show opera

The State Theatre, 130 W. College Ave., will air the Metropolitan Opera's performance of Manon Lascaut at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow. The opera is the fourth in a series of eight performances broadcast live from New York to theaters across the country. Written by Giacomo Puccini, Manon Lescaut was first performed in 1893. The Italian opera is set in France and New Orleans. The opera is 3 hours and 15 minutes with two intermissions. Tickets for the broadcast are $15 for children, $20 for senior citizens and $22 for the general public and are available at the State Theatre box office.
