Court denies motion to revoke Baker's bail

In front of about 30 friends and supporters, including many wearing Penn State football letterman's jackets, Centre County President Judge David E. Grine denied the motion to revoke bail for former Penn State football player Chris Baker Friday.

"I can sleep tonight," Baker's mother said. "My son is a good kid."

Baker, formerly a defensive tackle for the Nittany Lions, is facing charges in connection with an Oct. 7 fight at the HUB-Robeson Center and an April 1 incident at the Meridian II, 646 E. College Ave.

Baker faces charges of criminal trespass, simple assault, harassment and burglary stemming from the fight at the Meridian Apartments.

While out on bail for the charges from the April incident, he was charged with aggravated assault, harassment and stalking, simple assault and disorderly conduct in connection with the HUB fight. A condition of his bail was that he refrain from further criminal activity, according to court documents.

The court also heard arguments on the pretrial motion filed in December by Baker's attorney, Karen Muir.

Muir argued that the identification of Baker by witnesses should be suppressed because the lineup shown to them was suggestive.
