JEANNETTE -- The buzz around Jeannette last night was that Joe Paterno was coming to town in a last-minute attempt to woo senior quarterback Terrelle Pryor to Penn State.
Pryor confirmed the suspicions.
"Yeah, he's coming tomorrow," Pryor told The Daily Collegian last night, taking a break from signing autographs after his senior night basketball game against Apollo-Ridge.
While Pryor didn't say much about today's planned sit-down with Paterno, word of the 81-year-old coach's impending visit had Jeannette residents chattering in a local diner and the Jeannette Senior High School gymnasium.
As if there wasn't already enough buzz around Pryor.
Considered by many to be the top high school player in the country, Pryor has generated huge amounts of attention this season.
The New York Times, ESPN The Magazine and various other news outlets have run stories about the senior from western Pennsylvania.
Pyror is also on the watch list for the 2008 Parade All-America high school football team, an honor previously given to the likes of former Heisman winner Reggie Bush, Dan Marino and John Elway.
Pryor finished his senior football season with 3,691 total yards of offense. He passed for 1,790 yards, while running for another 1,901. He finished the season with 60 touchdowns, leading Jeannette to a 16-0 season and state title.
That talent has made him one of the most sought-after recruits, as schools across the country -- including Oregon last night -- have sent representatives to Jeannette.
Also a star on the basketball court, the 6-foot-6 quarterback is reportedly still mulling offers from Penn State, Michigan, Ohio State and Oregon, among others, according to Scout.com. Pryor has said repeatedly he will make his final decision on Feb. 6, the first day high school recruits can officially sign letters of intent to play college football.
Penn State sports information Jeff Nelson did not immediately return a phone call to confirm Paterno's planned trip last night.
