Tickets on sale for play at State Theatre

Tickets are now on sale for the play Lettice and Lovage, the Second City Comedy Tour and a performance by guitarist Richard Thompson at the State Theatre, 130 W. College Ave.

Presented by Next Stage, Lettice and Lovage will be performed during the weekends of Feb. 29 to March 2 and March 7 to March 9. The comedy stars Lettice Douffet, a tour guide in a historic home in Britain who believes history is too boring and decides to invent a more theatrical version. Tickets are $12 for seniors and students and $14 for the general public.

The Second City Comedy Tour features performers from the renowned improvisational comedy troupe that honed the talent of Stephen Colbert, Mike Meyers, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi. The group will perform both rehearsed scenes and those improvised from audience suggestions at 8 p.m. April 6. Tickets are $13 for Penn State students and $25 for the general public. The student tickets are only available by phone at 272-0606 or at the State Theatre box office. Richard Thompson, named one of Rolling Stone magazine's 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time, will perform at the State Theatre at 8 p.m. April 16. A founding member of the 1960s group Fairport Convention, Thompson has been a critically acclaimed rock guitarist despite limited commercial success. Tickets are $40, $30 and $20 for students and the general public.
