The results of an MRI confirmed today that Penn State forward Geary Claxton suffered a torn ACL and bone bruise during last night's basketball game against Wisconsin, sports information director Brian Siegrist said. Claxton, who leads the Nittany Lions in scoring and rebounding, will miss the remainder of the season.
Claxton will have surgery on his left knee to repair the damage. No surgery date has been set, but Siegrist said it will likely take place in late January or early February.
Claxton has led Penn State in scoring for each of the last four years and in rebounding for each of the last three. The team's first game without its senior forward will be at No. 9 Indiana on Sunday.
