LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Costumes shouldn't be placed in the limelight

I would like to ask a question to everyone not directly related to the Va. Tech victims: If you care so much about the victims' friends and families, why are you keeping this debacle in the limelight?

The costumes were offensive and immature, no doubt. However, that's all they were. They weren't racist or otherwise prejudiced.

Those who wore them did not do so with malice. They didn't track down the victim's families and friends. The people who created the scandal, who sought out and spread the pictures, did that. They are the ones who took the friends and families of the victims and rubbed their faces in it.

Finally to the friends and families of the victims: I am sorry for your terrible loss, and am sad that you had to witness such hurtful ignorance.
