'Rock of Love' star to bartend

The winner of VH1’s popular show, Jes Rickleff will be making an appearance for a meet-and-greet at local bar The Cell Block.

Jes Rickleff, the pink-haired winner of VH1's Rock of Love and consequent winner of Bret Michaels' heart, will be rocking out downtown at the Cell Block, 420 E. College Ave., tonight.

Starting at 10 p.m., Penn State students 21 and over will be able to meet, get autographs from, order drinks from and take pictures with the reality television show winner.

"It's sort of similar to a meet and greet -- the show just ended so she's still really popular," Joe Yamma, the general manager for the Cell Block, said. "She'll be here all night; she's basically at the crowd's disposal."

The show comprised 25 young women vying for the opportunity to date Bret Michaels, the lead vocalist of '80s glam-metal band Poison, perhaps most popular for the song "Every Rose Has its Thorn."

Jes and a former stripper named Heather fiercely competed as the finalists, though Michaels would eventually pick Jes to be the object of his affection.

The show was one of VH1's top-rated programs, according to www.buddytv.com.

"Jes was the most honest of any of the girls; she didn't seem fake at all," said Andy Pool (junior-psychology), the bassist for local band Sign the Surrender. "And, to be totally shallow for a second, she was probably the most attractive girl there."

At the reunion special for Rock of Love, Jes admitted the two weren't a couple after the show. She called the entire show a 'mindf***,' and on the VH1 Celebreality blog, she admits she only spoke with Michaels once between the taping of the show and the reunion special.

"Jes seemed very realistic and didn't get caught up on the whole 'I'm on television' deal," Christine Reedy (junior-English) said. "I thought that she was better than he was anyway ... he didn't deserve her."

Jes is an experienced bartender and will bartend at the Cell Block as well as meet with fans, Yamma said.

"This booking agent, who books everyone from the Real World to Big from Rob and Big, says Jes is a phenomenal person," Yamma said. "She books a wide range of reality television stars and said [Jes] is one of the best."

The event will have a $1 cover charge.

"I think Jes would be great to go out and party with," Reedy said.
