LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week disgraces university

I am ashamed that Penn State is allowing Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week to take place at our campus. It is nothing more than a contrived hate rally blanketed in patriotic garb by David Horowitz.

Mr. Horowitz says that this rally is intended to increase awareness of radical Islamic groups. This initiative is one of the most xenophobic and fascist ideas I have ever encountered. Can someone come to Penn State to give a speech on "negroid-fascist awareness" where they would discuss the threat that black liberation movements pose to U.S. national security? That would NEVER be allowed to take place.

Why are we allowing something along the same lines that takes shots at Islam?

Mr. Horowitz acts in hopes of erasing the "liberal education" we are receiving in schools today. What does a right-wing education entail? Perhaps, less reading of Marx? Horowitz himself is a former Marxist!

I hope the rest of the student body understands the implications of allowing such an event to take place at our university.
