LETTER TO THE EDITOR

People would benefit from not using e-mail for a day

It was nice to see the column "To lose stress, consider e-mail bankruptcy" Oct. 9. There is a new and flourishing trend of people having the complete inability to interact with others in person.

E-mail has taken away the interactive skills people need in order to present themselves in important situations such as meetings, work and even friendly gatherings.

I think the idea of taking a day not to send e-mails but to make calls or meet up with people in person is a great idea.

People used to say that customer service was a lot better, even in places like department stores and fast food restaurants.

Anymore, people who get asked for help are rude about it and are not good at helping others.

This one day a week could make a small difference in how people handle each other and social situations, a once-a-week experience that I believe people are in dire need of.

E-mail and the Internet will ultimately weaken the inter-personal skills of this generation.
