Student reports rape in Nittany Apartment area

A female student reported at 4 a.m. that she had been sexually assaulted earlier in the morning in the Nittany Apartment area by Pollock Road, Penn State Police said.

There is a suspect; however, charges have not been filed, and the investigation is ongoing, university police Lt. Bill Moerschbacher said.

Details of the incident could not be released, but police said alcohol played a role in the event.

Moerschbacher said a press release will be issued tomorrow morning.

"We don't see any threat to the public, because we have a suspect," he said.
