The Penn State football team will face Eastern Illinois in 2009, according to a press release on the Eastern Illinois athletics Web site.
The meeting, on Oct. 10, will be sandwiched in between the Nittany Lions' games at Illinois and home against Minnesota. Other non-conference games in 2009 include Eastern Michigan, Syracuse and Temple.
Eastern Illinois, a Football Championship Subdivision school competing in the Ohio Valley Conference, is 3-2 this season. It lost to Purdue, 52-6, in Week 2 in the Panthers' only meeting this season with a Big Ten team.
The Panthers have a history of scheduling non-conference games with the Big Ten. The 2009 matchup will be the fourth straight year Eastern Illinois has faced a Big Ten team. They will play Illinois in 2008, one of the matchups that will be dropped to make room for Penn State in 2009.
