ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Penn State extended its 11-year losing streak against Michigan this afternoon, as the No. 10 Nittany Lions fell, 14-9, at Michigan Stadium.
The Wolverines sealed the win with a 15-play, 77-yard drive, which milked 6 minutes and 31 seconds from the clock and was capped by a 1-yard Mike Hart touchdown run.
The Wolverines (2-2, 1-0 Big Ten) now have legs to stand on, while some early weaknesses for the Lions have been amplified.
Penn State (3-1, 0-1) struggled to establish a consistent running game, and quarterback Anthony Morelli appeared vulnerable. He was 15 of 31 for 169 yards and was sacked twice.
What's worse, the Lions lost two fumbles. A Morelli fumble in the first quarter enabled Michigan quarterback Ryan Mallett -- a true freshman starting in place of injured senior Chad Henne -- to open the scoring with a 10-yard touchdown run.
