The Penn State ACHA Division I Icers will step onto the Greenberg Ice Pavilion Rink at 9:15 tonight for their first game since the 2006 season. This time, though, they will be facing off against each other in the annual Blue/White matchup.
After finishing second in the ACHA for the fourth consecutive year with a 5-1 loss to Oakland, the Icers will have most of their 2006 roster back, with the exception of former goaltender Chris Matteo. Twelve juniors and seven seniors will return from the team that finished 31-6-2.
The Blue/White game will give fans a chance to see five new freshmen join a team that has been to the ACHA national title game for 10 consecutive years.
The Blue/White game will give reigning ACHA Coach of the Year Scott Balboni a chance to evaluate his squad's talent. The Icers will be broken into two teams and compete for two 25-minute halves.
