Penn State beats Buffalo, heads into Big Ten play undefeated

Penn State overcame a slow offensive start plagued by turnovers to defeat Buffalo, 45-24, at Beaver Stadium today before a crowd of 107,506.

An Austin Scott fumble on Penn State's second drive of the game gave the Bulls possession at the Lions' 8-yard line, ultimately allowing them to take a 3-0 lead on an A.J. Principe field goal.

The offense's woes continued on Penn State's next offensive drive -- Scott fumbled again, giving the Bulls the ball around midfield. Buffalo's offense held the ball for almost nine minutes in the first quarter, while its defense kept the Lions (3-0) off the board until midway through the second.

Kevin Kelly tied the score, 3-3, with a field goal, and Penn State began to build a lead that it never relinquished. Anthony Morelli completed 20 of his 27 pass attempts, throwing a career-high four touchdown passes for a total of 202 yards. Rodney Kinlaw, who stepped in for Scott after his second fumble, rushed for 132 yards -- a career high -- and one touchdown.
