Spikes rained out; will play two

Last night's scheduled game between the State College Spikes and Aberdeen IronBirds was canceled because of rain.

The contest will be made up with a doubleheader tonight, with a pair of seven-inning games starting at 6 p.m. at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.

The postponement delays a return trip home for the Spikes, who returned after a six-game road trip to make a homestand of the same length.

The stand will be the Spikes' longest of the season.

Spikes pitcher Anthony Watson (5-0) was scheduled to take the hill last night, looking to improve his flawless record.

Watson will pitch in game one tomorrow while Matt Faust will throw the second game of the doubleheader.

The State College bats had started to rouse from their slumber at the end of the road trip.

The Spikes smacking several homers and putting more runs across the plate, something they obviously hope to continue throughout the homestand.

The weather dampened the "Bark in the Park" promotion, which involved fans bringing their pets to the stadium.
