The State Theatre, 130 W. College Ave., will show the film Brand Upon the Brain! at 7 and 9:30 p.m. today through Wednesday.
The 99-minute film features a young man named Guy Maddin and his childhood on an island in a lighthouse orphanage owned by his overbearing mother and reclusive scientist father.
Teen detectives Wendy and Chance Hale come to the island to try to reveal why newly adopted children from the island have mysterious head wounds.
As the teens discover more secrets about Guy's family, he becomes infatuated with Wendy, but their romance must be hidden from his domineering mother.
The 2006 film was directed by Canadian Guy Maddin and was originally silent and used a live musical accompaniment and narration. In June 2007, a version was released with a recorded soundtrack featuring narration by Italian actress Isabella Rossellini.
Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for seniors and students. They are available at the State Theatre box office and online.
