Letter to the Editor
Ticket policy is most fair as first come, first served

On Tuesday night, I was very disturbed to read the new student ticket distribution policy issued on the Penn State newswire.

Penn State had decided to distribute student tickets by a lottery system that would not have properly rewarded the most loyal fans. I believe the old first-come, first-served method properly rewarded the most dedicated fans, who contribute so much to Penn State's amazing football atmosphere.

The people who care the most about purchasing tickets would be sure to pay attention and get their tickets. The lottery system would arbitrarily distribute tickets without regard to how valuable they are to the students purchasing them. The problems experienced last season were caused by a poor notification system.

Correcting the notification system would have been a much easier and more fair solution. I have always purchased my tickets the first day they were available and I have attended every game during my career. In any system, some students are bound to get left out.

However, the previous system best allocated tickets based on the students who wanted them the most.
