Rain cancels baseball game

Collegian Staff Writer

The usual long Tuesday night game at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park was nowhere to be found last night.

Two storm systems moving through State College cancelled last night's baseball game between Penn State and Villanova after a short rain delay.

The contest between the intrastate rivals will not be made up, keeping Villanova's four-game winning streak dating back to 2003 alive.

The cancellation stops the Nittany Lions (19-21, 11-7 Big Ten) from starting a new winning streak after a seven-game tear was snapped by two straight losses at Indiana this past weekend.

The Lions will resume Big Ten play when they take on Purdue with two doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday at Medlar Field.

Notes

Freshman John Karr was scheduled to make his second career start before the skies opened on Medlar Field. ... New Lady Lions head coach Coquese Washington was marked to throw out the first pitch.
