Because I've known Nick Stathes for the past 15 years, I read with interest your article, "Former student leader charged" (April 25). Nick has been working tirelessly for the past two years supporting issues that directly affect the students of today and future Penn Staters. Yet in these 24 months as a student and a representative of the Penn State student body, this is perhaps only the third or fourth time I've seen reference to him in the The Weekly Collegian.
How can you claim to report the news when you neglected to report on his tenure as president of USG? By my estimate, he volunteered over 1,000 hours to represent you, the students, in support of issues that are meaningful to you. Is it fair to penalize him now for his efforts on your behalf with a report of an incident that probably happens daily in State College?
