UPUA's election results confirmed
The University Park Undergraduate Association (UPUA) election results have been confirmed with only one disqualification, Frank Criscione, head election commissioner, said. Criscione said the confirmation took a long time to process because the commission was waiting on approval of UPUA's new constitution by the external board reviewing the constitution.
As soon as the election results were confirmed, UPUA can no longer amend its constitution again until the next time new representatives take office.
The board rendered a decision on only one article, amending the time elections will take place so that UPUA is not forced to hold elections this fall.
Hillary Lewis, UPUA president-elect, said she was "grateful" the new constitution would not take effect in her term, because more time would produce a better constitution.
The runner-up in the presidential race, Gavin Keirans, was the only candidate disqualified.
While the disqualification has no effect on these elections, UPUA's current election code stipulates that if a candidate has been disqualified more than twice, they may not run again. This disqualification is the first for both Keirans and his running mate, Mike Wallace.
