Penn State draft picks

Posluszny joins Bills

The Buffalo Bills selected Paul Posluszny, Penn State's former star linebacker and all-time tackles leader, with the 34st pick of the the NFL Draft this afternoon. The Bills made a trade with the Detroit Lions to select Posluszny with the second pick of the second round.

The third outside linebacker selected in this year's draft, Posluszny was the highest-picked Penn State linebacker since LaVar Arrington at No. 2 overall by the Washington Redskins in 2000.

He joins 1987 Defensive Rookie of the Year Shane Conlan as early round linebackers chosen out of Penn State by Buffalo.

An Aliquippa native, Posluszny is an instinctive player lauded for his intelligence and leadership. He won the Bednerick award, given to the nation's top defensive player, in 2005 and 2006.

Many thought Posluszny would enter the Draft after his junior season, but he was hampered by PCL and MCL tears suffered in his right knee at the 2005 Orange Bowl.

Brown picked fifth

Levi Brown, Penn State's former offensive tackle, was selected fifth overall in today's NFL Draft to the Arizona Cardinals.

Brown, who is 6-foot-5, 323 pounds, is noted for his impressive size and long arms as well as his quickness. He was named second-team All America tackle in 2005 and 2006.

He will probably be expected to protect quarterback Matt Leinert.
