Yesterday's editorial "New bill may do more damage than good" thoroughly disappoints me. It irks me to no end that ticket resale and profit have somehow become a moral issue.
Since when has it been a problem to sell a luxury good at ridiculous prices? I don't see anyone complaining about the price of fashionable women's clothing or sports cars.
Students who complain about ticket prices have nothing to complain about but their fellow buyers, who continue to offer triple face value to get a ticket. Students who do buy tickets from the Athletic Department must realize that they buy tickets at prices far below their true value; it is obviously advantageous to resell them at higher prices.
This is basic Economics 2 material, so why do the same students who know the theory continue to complain?
