Ticket resale bill good plan

In response to the editorial about ticket resale ("New bill may do more damage than good," April 26), I believe that the proposed Senate bill is a wonderful idea. Allowing patrons to sell tickets online without constraints about maximum values will benefit ticket holders by allowing them to no longer have to "hide" a ticket in an online auction on eBay by selling a couple of T-shirts and some "bonus" football tickets.

The fact is that this is not "legal scalping;" it is intended to allow the legal sale of event tickets in online auctions. And if people are willing to pay the price they bid for tickets, who is this hurting exactly?

I've sold many football tickets on eBay before and some for exorbitant amounts, but the people offered to pay that price, so I had no problem at all selling the tickets.

This isn't about scalping tickets; this is about allowing people to sell tickets ahead of time to a highly anticipated event for whatever price people are willing to pay for the tickets. You are focusing solely on the student body at Penn State which, while an important part of the Penn State football experience, only accounts for a fifth of the total seats at a game.

I'm sure that students will continue to hang flyers in academic buildings and dorms advertising football tickets for sale as they have done for years.

This bill isn't targeted at the student body. What it is meant to do is allow for a more efficient way for Penn State fans and alumni to obtain athletic tickets from across the country by allowing them to search for and purchase tickets online of their own volition, without punishment to the seller of the ticket(s).

This bill simply allows people to advertise, in the open, ticket sales online without need to sneak around and hide the actual item being offered and to allow for others to pay whatever amount they are willing to pay for said tickets. If they are willing to pay for it, let them have it.
