Letter to the Editor
VA Tech student thanks Penn State community

I would like to thank the Penn State community for their prolific support of Virginia Tech after the unspeakable tragedy we suffered a week ago Monday. Despite this incredibly trying ordeal, I am proud to see that Virginia Tech has reunited as a community, and our strength and spirit has been renewed. I never doubted my Hokie family.

Through our struggles, it has been truly heartwarming to experience this unfathomable outpouring of sympathy and support from around the country and the globe. I want to sincerely thank you at Penn State for all the prayers, encouragement and love you've sent our way. It was a touching tribute to see your Blue and White game turn orange and maroon.

As graduation looms ahead, I've become nervous about leaving the vast support network that Blacksburg has now become. This fall, I will begin graduate studies in materials science and engineering, and I'll be leaving my Hokie family to join the Nittany Lions.

After seeing Penn State's compassionate response to our crisis, I know I'll be in good hands in State College. Just like my sister and father (both Penn State alumni) once did, I'll be looking forward to cheering "We are." Thanks for the love, Lions. I'll see you in August.
