I am concluding my senior year at Penn State and before I graduate I would like to say 'thank you' to the administration. The administration must make tough decisions every day, and these decisions often impact the student body greatly. One decision I wish to compliment the administration on is choosing 16.5-inch tall toilets. This is a vital decision and I appreciate the administration applying due consideration.
Being a faculty used by both genders, obvious compromises must be made. For the female, a higher toilet is preferable in order to limit "splash back." However, sacrifices must be made. The higher a toilet is, the tougher it is for the male to form a clean shot. Clearly a 15-degree angle is easier than a 50-degree angle. From experimental evidence I have concluded 30 degrees to be the optimal angle in these matters. However, obviously males of different heights will face different angles and therefore due care must be taken to accommodate for the very tall and the very short.
However, at heights above our lovely 16 and one-halfers, you begin to experience angles of extreme difficulty and messes are made. At heights below our chosen toilet height, "splash back" becomes rampant.
Kudos to the administration for choosing a height which provides sufficient distance from "splash back" without compromising comfortable angles of entry for the male student population. Your efforts have not gone unnoticed; simply no one has voiced their approval. I want to change that and say 'thank you.'
