Filmmaker discusses child trafficking

Collegian Staff Writer

Last night, Guy Jacobson, the president of Priority Films, spoke about child sexploitation, which he called a "very explosive subject matter."

Excerpts from two Priority Films -- Holly and The Virgin Harvest -- were shown last night.

Jacobson said it is a topic that touches everyone, yet few realize the scope of the global Holocaust.

According to the Web site, the Redlight Children Campaign "seeks to generate conscious concern and inspire immediate action against child sexploitation."

Jacobson, who is originally from Israel but is now based in New York City, said he was hoping that Penn State students, as well as other people around the country and world, will put pressure on governments for policy to "decrease this problem."

The event was planned by Nicolle Solivan, president of Positive Role Models Building Powerful Women.

Solivan contributed the low attendance -- about 20 people -- to the weather.

Solivan said she attended the Redlight Children Campaign Launch at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City last September and was greatly impacted by what she learned that night.

"I decided that global change can start with just one person so I decided to ask Guy if he would come to Penn State to launch the campaign," Solivan said.
