The show at the BJC is the second leg of The Black Parade tour, which began in February with opening act Rise Against.
My Chemical Romance burst onto the scene in 2002 with I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love.
The group has since released three albums and is widely recognized for hits including "Helena," "Famous Last Words" and "I'm Not Okay."
On its Web site, the band describes its sound as "rock" or "violent, dangerous pop."
Gianni Antonaccio (junior-hotel, restaurant and institutional management) said that he doesn't think the band can be pegged into just a single genre of music.
"I like that My Chemical Romance has really tried to distance themselves from the emo, screamo scene they helped make popular," Antonaccio said. "With The Black Parade, they have really made an album that can make a lasting impact on music and is more than just a fad."
Antonaccio added that he has not yet seen opening act Muse live, but has been told by others that "they are one of the best live bands in the world."
Muse, an English rock band formed in 1992, released its fourth album, Black Holes and Revelations, just this past July.
The group's hits include "Starlight," "Knights of Cydonia" and "Take a Bow."
In the fall of 2005, My Chemical Romance won an mtvU Woodie Award for Best International group.
"There are only three band members in Muse, yet they have a huge sound with tons of energy," Jeremy Moore (junior-chemical engineering) said.
"I love every song of theirs, which seems so improbable. I expect them to perform as they always do and completely impress me and blow away anyone who has not seen them before."
Daphne Ng (sophomore-biotechnology) said that she will be attending the show to see both My Chemical Romance and Muse.
"My Chemical Romance puts on an amazing live show," she said. "They have so much energy, and they actually put an effort into getting the crowd excited. It's going to be great."
Punt said the BJC will be set up with an end stage to allow the maximum number of audience members. He said tickets are selling well. "You have My Chemical Romance, and then you have Muse as the opening act," he said. "It's a very attractive, very strong package."
