A room at the State College High School North Building was broken into and "ransacked" over the weekend, State College police said.
Police said the break-in occurred sometime between 9 a.m. Friday and 5 p.m. Sunday.
Friday classes at the high school were canceled after a note that threatened violence was found Thursday afternoon in a bathroom in the high school's South Building.
Lt. Dana Leonard said there was no evidence of a connection between the burglary and the threatening note. However, Leonard said, "that would certainly be something the detective would keep in mind as they work through this."
Police said the assailants broke an exterior window to get into the building. They entered room 400, a "classroom/shop" room, police said.
Once inside, they turned over tables and smashed equipment onto the floor, "essentially ransacking the entire room," Leonard said.
A Dell laptop and Samsung video projector are missing, worth a combined $3,700, police said.
Police said there are no suspects yet and they are not sure whether the break-in involved one or multiple actors.
Craig Butler, principal of the North Building, said the room had been closed yesterday and classes were relocated to other locations. He said the room was expected to reopen today.
"We basically put the room back in order and believe it is in good enough condition to resume instruction," he said.
