News in Brief
USG votes to transfer funds to UPUA
The Undergraduate Student Government (USG) trust voted to transfer its remaining assets to the University Park Undergraduate Association (UPUA) at its meeting last night.
However, the trust’s assets, estimated at $25,000, will not be transferred until the external board reviewing UPUA’s constitutional amendments makes a decision. If the board accepts UPUA’s new constitution in totality, the trust will transfer its assets at that point. If the board rejects the constitution, the trust will meet again on April 26 to decide where to allocate its assets.
According to the standing order outlining the process, the trust accepts that UPUA is “near completion of the execution of the obligations” of the merger requirements outlined by USG and accepted by UPUA. Nick Stathes, USG trust chairman, said he will begin drafting contracts to transfer the assets, so as to complete the process quickly pending the approval of the constitution.
The deadline for the trust to make a decision regarding its assets is April 27, or else it will simply give them up to the administration.
