"We're combining with the Oriana Singers to perform two opera choruses," Glee Club member Matthew Shaffer (junior-music) said. "Several quartets will be performing also."
Shaffer said the Glee Club would be ending the show with a large Penn State medley and Penn State's alma mater.
"The president of the Glee Club conducts the alma mater, and any Glee Club alumni are invited to join us in singing these songs," he said. Shaffer said the Blue and White performance has something for everyone in the audience.
"Songs from The Little Mermaid to a sacred piece in German written in the 16th century will be performed," he said. "It's going to be a fun concert, and everyone will enjoy the Penn State songs at the end."
Christopher Kiver, assistant professor of music, said he's excited for the performance because of the pride of Blue
and White weekend. He added that it is an exciting prospect
to pay farewell to the seniors who have given good service
to the choir over the years.
"It is a rare opportunity -- you get to hear a male choir perform, and their performances are always rich with variety," he said. "It is one of the few chances students get to hear important Penn State pieces sung how they were originally written, rather than on the jumbo-tron at football games."
Jon Badalamenti (senior-biochemistry and molecular biology), also a member of the Glee Club, said he is excited for this concert because he is a senior.
Badalamenti said this weekend will carry out the Blue and White weekend traditions of the Glee Club at Penn State.
"We have a 100-year tradition and we're the oldest student organization on campus, so I feel like we have established over the years a fan base," he said.
