This is in response to the April 9 letter, "Reader asks for students to rally for legal marijuana." I cannot imagine anyone who is smoking, cultivating or selling marijuana as a "responsible... member of society." After all, marijuana is still illegal and, whether or not you believe it is right or wrong, it makes no difference until (if and when) it becomes legal. Smoking, cultivating or selling marijuana while it's illegal is not considered a responsible decision and should always involve legal action. The government has more pressing matters to vote upon than the legalization of marijuana for the sole purpose of partying without fear of being arrested. If you are seriously concerned about the legalization of marijuana, perhaps you should research its medicinal advantages, rather than for recreational use. I am disgusted to see "Penn State Proud" and marijuana in the same context. Is this how we as alumni are making Penn State proud? I am choosing to make Penn State proud by refraining from illegal activities and by working hard to make myself the best member of society that I can be. I sincerely hope that others of you are doing the same.
