A day of remembrance for millions of Jewish men, women and children killed during World War II was held in the Pasquerilla Spiritual Center this afternoon.
Penn State Hillel held the Yom HasHoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day, to commemorate the lives of those who perished throughout Europe. Hillel's memorial service featured the lighting of six candles, one for every million Jews murdered.
The service began by reading off the names of Holocaust victims, from a special Yom HasHoah book that listed only 100,000 of the victims. The memorial also featured historical photographs from the Holocaust and photographs from Hillel's Holocaust/Educational Programming Co-Chairwoman Alyssa Rosenblum's trip to Poland in 2005.
Visitors at the commemoration were invited to fill out memorial cards to express feelings regarding the lives lost.
The memorial will continue this evening with the showing of "Tak for Alt: Thanks for Everything," starring Holocaust survivor Judy Meisel at 7 p.m. in 118 Pasquerilla Spiritual Center.
