Circumcision information at Sex Faire misleading

I was shocked over the erroneous information presented at the Sex Faire ("Sex Faire arouses carnal curiosity," April 12), and I am concerned about this information's dissemination. Circumcision was not invented in the Victorian era; circumcision has been a crucial part of Jewish history dating back to about 1900 B.C. The most recognized history of circumcision places the practice being "invented" when God created a covenant with Abraham. Circumcision was to physically mark Jews as God's chosen people. Biblical history aside, research has shown that circumcision may date back to prehistoric East Africa.

There is also a contradiction presented in the article. The reader is first told that being circumcised is no cleaner than being uncircumcised. Moyer states, however, that "foreskin has to be lifted and cleaned in uncircumcised males." This portrays that special care must be taken to keep an uncircumcised penis clean.

Finally, I think Caitlin Corr needs to reassess her statement "sex is America's little secret." Last time I checked sex was being crammed down America's throat through media whenever possible: Grey's Anatomy, Desperate Housewives, Girls Next Door, Sopranos, Nip Tuck-- not to mention the Internet. Sex in America seems to be real hush-hush to me.
