Greek Week overall chairwoman Annie Larimer (senior-journalism) said the greek pageant is a highlight for her.
"I really enjoy the greek pageant. It's something that we sort of revamped last year," Larimer said. "Last year, it was just a really fun experience so I'm looking forward to that this year."
Each chapter nominated at least one person to compete in the pageant. After an interview process with Greek Week programming chairwoman Lauren Giovannitti (junior-management), five women and five men were selected to compete.
Along with the greek pageant, other events like a croquet tournament, a step show, chariot races and community service events are planned.
One initial show of unity is in the triad pairings. Each participating Interfraternity Council fraternity is paired with a Panhellenic Council sorority and either a Multicultural Greek Council or a National Panhellenic Council group.
There are 21 triads, which will compete in games together, earning spirit points at each event.
Greeks met the members of their triads at the Greek Week Kick-Off Party and Scavenger Hunt April 1 at Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, 200 E. Beaver Ave.
Larimer said the party was a way for "triad pairs to meet up and hang out before Greek Week so they could get to know each other."
While participating in the events is limited only to greeks, the public is invited to watch.
Greek Week's theme is "Honor our Past. Envision our Future."
"What we really want to do is build off our past history -- all the great traditions," Talley said. "We really want to feed off what our fellow Greeks did before us and really try to envision the future for making the Penn State greek future the best the in the nation."
