Students celebrate with head-to-toe color

Collegian Staff Writer

Yesterday's cold weather didn't stop students from celebrating the coming spring by throwing brightly colored powders and water at this year's Holi Day celebration.

More than 50 students gathered on the HUB lawn to participate in the second annual event sponsored by the Hindu Student Association (HSA).

Participants covered in bright pink, yellow, green, purple, yellow and blue from head-to-toe yelled "Happy Holi" as they smeared the color on the faces and clothes of the other participants.

Buckets filled with colored water served as wells for loading water guns and even people walking by werent safe from the flying colors.

HSA member Rishi Das said that although the weather was uncharacteristically cold for a springtime celebration, the cold temperatures wouldn't keep participants from having fun.

"I'm having a great time," Das said. "It brings a lot of students out, not just Indians and Hindus."
