Session I
No. 1 Ohio State: By its No. 1 ranking and 217.22 qualifying score, the Buckeyes have earned the top seed heading into competition. Ohio State certainly has an impressive body of work this season, as it won its third consecutive Big Ten championship.
Top Gymnasts: Senior Willie Ito was a Nissen-Emery finalist for the Big Ten conference, and is the team's leader both in and out of competition.
No. 4 Stanford: The three-time national champion Cardinal is coming off last season's third-place finish, ending a 10-year drought of not finishing in the top 5. Stanford's lone defeat in a dual meet came against former No.1-ranked Michigan.
Top Gymnast: David Sender is currently the top-ranked gymnast on the vault and is No. 2 in the nation in the All-Around.
No. 5 Michigan: The Wolverines are a dangerous team to be dealt with this weekend. Michigan was the top team in the nation for most of the season, but late losses at Ohio State, and a fourth-place finish at the Big Tens ended its run.
Top Gymnast: Justin Laury was ranked in the top-10 this season in the high bar, parallel bars and pommel horse, and has had a solid season since returning from an injury redshirt last year.
No. 8 Illinois: The Illini started off hot, finishing second at the Windy City Invitational, finishing above, of all others, Ohio State, and just finishing below then-No. 1 Michigan.
No. 9 Iowa: Iowa finished last in the Big Ten Championships, but will still be making an appearance in the NCAA tournament at Rec Hall this weekend as the No. 9 seed.
No. 12 Army: Out of the ECAC-EIGL, Army used its third place finish at the conference championships to gain the final berth to the NCAAs.
Session II
No. 2 Oklahoma: The Sooners head to Penn State as the two-time defending national champions. Despite losing to Michigan and Ohio State earlier in the year, Oklahoma has certainly prepared itself by facing eight of the NCAA team finalists this season.
Top Gymnast: Nissen-Emery Award finalist and co-captain Brian Carr is a reigning All-America on the pommel horse. Carr has won two high bar titles this year, too. Oklahoma has the most Nissen-Emery winners all-time with five.
No. 3 Penn State: The Nittany Lions enter this weekend behind only Ohio State and Oklahoma. One advantage for Penn State is the home gym. Penn State has posted wins over Ohio State and Illinois at home, and have key road wins over Army and Temple.
Top Gymnast: Penn State goes as senior captain Matt Cohen goes. The Nissen-Emery award winner is ranked seventh in the rings, and has been a leader for the Lions all season.
No. 6 Minnesota: The Gophers have never won a team title, but are entering the NCAA championships on a high note after finishing in third place at the Big Ten Championships, just a fraction of a point behind Ohio State and Penn State.
Top Gymnast: Senior Jake Lee was also a finalist for the Nissen-Emery Award, which is given to the top senior gymnast, and sophomore Kit Beikmann recently won the conference title on the pommel horse.
No. 7 California: Despite coming in with a middling seed, the Golden Bears beat current No. 1 Ohio State in a result that continues to look better and better.
No. 10 Temple: The other team coming from the ECAC-EIGL, the Owls sealed their bid by winning their conference championships, topping the University of Illinois-Chicago by almost six points.
No. 11 Nebraska: Nebraska has had tough results against top competition in dual meets, losing to Oklahoma, Iowa, Stanford and Minnesota.
