Collegian Staff Writer

Three unknown men forced their way into a Vairo Boulevard apartment shortly after midnight yesterday and threatened the occupants with scissors and a knife, Patton Township police said.

The men "physically forced" their way into an apartment at Lion's Crossing Complex, 201 Vairo Blvd., according to a Patton Township police press release.

Patton Township Police Sgt. Frank Monroe said the door to the residence was unlocked. Once inside, one of the men brandished a knife and another picked up a pair of scissors and threatened to stab the occupants, according to the release.

The men took a cell phone from a resident and fled on foot, according to the release. Monroe could not confirm if the victims were students.

Police said the first suspect was described as a 20- to 23-year-old light-skinned black man about 5 feet 10 inches tall with a medium build.

The second suspect was described as a light-skinned black man about 5 feet 6 inches tall. Witnesses told police the suspect had a bandana across his face but he had blue or hazel colored eyes.

The third suspect was described as a dark-skinned man about 5 feet 8 inches tall with a medium build, according to the release. Police said he also had a dark-colored bandana across his face.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Patton Township Police at 1-800-479-0050 or 234-0273.
