News in brief

UPUA pushes back constitution vote

The University Park Undergraduate Association (UPUA) will push back its vote on a constitutional overhaul to sometime later this week. John Richter, internal development committee chairman, said the committee simply needed more time to review the constitution before presenting its final draft to the assembly. Richter said, specifically, he wanted to have more time to fully consider the almost 300-page report prepared by Ralph Crivello, chairman of the constitutional review committee, which was presented last Monday.

Candidate registration extended

The candidate registration deadline for the upcoming University Park Undergraduate Association (UPUA) has been extended to 5 p.m. tomorrow. Frank Criscione, head election commissioner, said the change was made to accommodate students who missed the first deadline last Friday. Potential candidates would have several extra days to gather the signatures required for candidacy, 250 for the presidential and vice presidential ticket and 100 for any other position. There are currently no students registered to run for five positions, including the academic representatives for the colleges of earth and mineral sciences, arts and architecture, communications and education or the division of undergraduate studies.
